Tibet – Escape from the Roof of the World

Every year more than 3,000 Tibetans risk their lives escaping from their homeland. TV and photojournalist Dieter Glogowski has escorted two Tibetan children, Norbu and Lhakpa, on their escape route from the 5,800-meter-high (19,024 ft) Nangpa-la border pass into the lowlands of Nepal. His breathtaking images and the story told in the manner of a journal acquaint the reader with the dramatic goings-on in the borderland between Tibet and Nepal. Tibet expert Franz Binder’s texts describes not only Tibet’s changeful history from the beginnings to the present but also the history of Tibetan Buddhism.
